STEMM now has an e-petition which can be found at http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/34365
The wording of the petition is:
‘Mynydd Mynyllod Wind Factory. Responsible department: Department for Energy and Climate Change.
Scottish Power are planning a large-scale windfarm on the edge of Snowdonia and in the beautiful Dee Valley. The 25 proposed turbines would be the tallest erected in Britain at 145 metres and not even in an area designated by the Welsh Assembly for windfarm development. This ‘wind factory’ which would blight this unique landscape. The UK government needs to put a stop to this immediately. For more information see http://stemm.org.uk/ ‘
The e-petition is a scheme introduced by the government to enable members of the public to influence government policy in the UK. If there is something that the Government is responsible for that we feel should be changed, we can create an e-petition and gather signatures in support. If STEMM gets 100,000 signatures, our petition will be eligible for debate in the House of Commons.
So, please sign it and try to spread the word about what the beautiful Upper Dee Valley is threatened with. If you want to refresh your memory of this tranquil area then take a look at Bill Spalding’s lovely website http://llandderfel-images.foliopic.com/gallery in which he has created a special area focusing on Mynydd Mynyllod.
